Remembering Sept 11th 2001 & The Music

GEORGIA RADIO - This week on Classic Country & Requests we're looking back at the music from September 2001, and remembering all those who died in the September 11th attacks. It was a big year for Newnan, Georgia native Alan Jackson and his song "Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning".

By the time the sun set on 11 September, 2001 nearly 3000 people had died. Our nation came together, and songs like "Where Were You" codified the American spirit. Just days before the attacks Blake Shelton's song "Austin" was sitting at Number 1, and soon after the attack Toby Keith moved into the Number 1 spot with "I'm Just Talking' About Tonight".

Alan Jackson's hit "Where I Come From" quickly took the lead in October, and by the end of the year, he was Number 1 again with "Where Were You." Tune in this week and remember the music, and the lives of all those lost as we remember where we were the day the world stopped turning.
