GEORGIA RADIO - As the spring breeze ushers in the promise of new beginnings, the literary community in Carrollton, Georgia, prepares for an enriching and vibrant celebration of words at the upcoming Carrollton BookFest 2024. Scheduled for Friday, April 5th, and Saturday, April 6th, the event promises to be a haven for book enthusiasts and aspiring writers alike.

Headlining this year's festivities is none other than Rick Bragg, a national bestselling author and Pulitzer Prize winner, renowned for his captivating storytelling. Bragg will be joined by Georgia Radio's own Matt Jolley, a recipient of the National Edward R. Murrow Award for feature reporting, who will moderate the discussions.

Joining the lineup of esteemed authors are national bestsellers Hank Phillipi Ryan and Deborah Goodrich Royce, who will introduce their latest releases and delve into their writing journeys. Additionally, the conference will feature an array of talented writers including Georgia Author of the Year for first novel, Robert Gwaltney, chef and author Johnathon Barrett, Susan Beckham Zurenda, and Terah Shelton Harris, among others, offering attendees a diverse and enriching literary experience.

The Writer’s Conference, spanning two days, will kick off on Friday with writing workshops and Bren McClain’s acclaimed full-day Writer’s Master Class, offering invaluable insights and guidance for writers honing their craft. On Saturday, the program will continue with discussions led by national and regional authors on topics of interest to both writers and readers alike.

Saturday's Book Fair, open to the public, will provide an opportunity for readers to engage with conference authors and local writers, peruse their books, and acquire autographed copies, fostering connections between authors and their readership. Moreover, special children’s activities including face painting, story time, and music will adorn the lawn of the Carrollton Center for the Arts, ensuring a delightful experience for families.

The grand finale of the conference will be "An Evening with Rick Bragg," offering attendees a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of this remarkable writer and humorist. The performance is slated for 6:30 pm and tickets can be purchased through the Carrollton Center for the Arts.
